Univen’s Senior Management team bids farewell to Dr Zaaiman

The University of Venda Senior Managers bid farewell to the Deputy Vice Chancellor Operations, Dr Jannie Zaaiman. The Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof Peter Mbati commended Dr Zaaiman for the excellent leadership he provided in the Operations Division where he was charged with the responsibilities of overseeing ICT, Facilities Management, Human Resources, Finance, Safety and Security including UIGC. The event was held at the University Council Chambers on Monday, 24 October 2016.

“Having worked with Dr Zaaiman for the past eight years, I can say that he has been an important partner in the development of Univen”, said Prof Mbati. Dr Zaaiman was described as a dependable colleague with tons of purposeful progressive energy towards the university business. “I am really sad to leave Univen at the end of this month. When I was interviewed in 2008 I never even remotely thought that I would be successful in my application and I would also never have realized how connected I would be to such a warm community of people”, these are the words said by Dr Zaaiman in his response. He thanked the Senior Management Committee members for the wonderful working relationships as well as friendships that have been developed over the past years they have worked together and known each other. Dr Zaaiman said “working here at Univen each day has made me a more complete and well-rounded person”. He mentioned the tough journey that Univen walked and today is standing proud as a monument to all South Africans that a rural University can become a success story. He encouraged team work and unity amongst the employees including members of senior management. As he concluded Dr Zaaiman said “my wish for everyone here is that you all continue to experience success, to feel fulfilled in all you do, and to have nothing but pleasant results with each completed Univen project”
